CORSIA is the first global market-based measure for any sector and represents a cooperative approachthat moves away from a “patchwork” of national or regional regulatory initiatives. It offers a harmonized way to reduce emissions from international aviation, minimizingmarket distortion, while respecting the special circumstances and respective capabilities of ICAO Member States.
CORSIA complements the other elements of the basket of measures by offsetting the amount of CO2emissions that cannot be reduced through the use of technological improvements, operational improvements, and sustainable aviation fuels with emissions units from the carbon market.
CORSIA is implemented in three phases:
A pilot phase (2021-2023), a first phase (2024-2026), and a second phase (2027-2035). For the first two phases (2021-2026), participation is voluntary and from 2027 onwards, participation will be determined based on 2018 RTK data.
The "VON BOHLEN & HALBACH CIE. FZ LLC" offers customised solutions and climate partnerships to interested airlines for the implementation and achievement of the legally prescribed target from the mandatory phase on 1 January 2027. The offer naturally also applies to the voluntary phases until the end of the 2026 financial year.
The ‘VON BOHLEN & HALBACH CIE. FZ LLC’ develops climate projects in the legal form of public-private partnerships with various federal states in Brazil which fulfil the high requirements and regulations of the American Carbon Registry, or alternatively the ART Registry. Interested partners from the international airline sector can participate in these projects as part of a climate partnership in order to meet the requirements in the mandatory phase from 1 January 2027. The advantage of such a partnership lies in the calculative security of the future, both in terms of reference prices and in terms of quality and quantity.
